| The Ministry Journeys of Rev. Juanita Gates & Rev. Naomi Harvey |
|
Naomi Harvey: Bio Naomi was called into ministry at the age of 16, and has been in Ministry over 50 years. She was a pastor for almost 37 years, at Faith Tabernacle in Aberdeen, Washington, a church she co-founded. Naomi also co-founded Living Communion Ministries in Portland, Oregon with JuaNita Gates. Other ministry involvements include: Living Communion Ministries in Seattle Washington; an orphanage in Tijuana Mexico (she adopted 10 children and raised 7 others as a single woman); The Harvester Foundation in Brady Washington; the Lighthouse Care Facility in Aberdeen, Washington for AIDS ministry as well as other business outreaches in Grays Harbor. She has been on the board of A.W.A.R.E, and international drug awareness and rehabilitation outreach, and served twenty years on the executive board for Advance Ministries and the Alliance of Christian Churches. Naomi toured the country in a greyhound bus doing gospel concerts in the l970’s as Naomi and the Joyful Sounds. They recorded five Gospel albums. She also produced the Fellowship in Song television programs in Portland, Oregon during the late 80’s and early 90’s in conjunction with Living Communion Ministries. In l980 her life was changed by a second degree murder sentence that sent her to prison for 17 years to life. She served five years before her sentence was vacated by the 5th appellate court in California because of Diminished capacity at the time of the crime. Even behind prison walls, she assisted the Chaplin at Frontera Women’s prison for 2 and half years. Her faithfulness to God and His faithfulness to her are evident in her amazing story. This Miracle woman has not been deterred from declaring God’s faithfulness. She has been tested by many experiences such as an intentional automobile attack on her life that left her in a body brace for 18 months; a fire that destroyed her home and took the lives of two of her children; multiple surgeries; heart attacks and strokes; and diagnosis that she would never walk again. She lives in the healing power of God, and travels across country with JuaNita Gates “Sharing Father’s Heart” ministering to the whole person. Parts of her story have been told in such writings as Sylvia Pennington’s book, Ex-gays? There are none and other books, but for the first time, the complete story is told in, The Miracle Woman, my Journey of Restoration- The Naomi Harvey Story as told to Darlene Bogle. Naomi is available for ministry engagements. Contact her at revnaomi@localnet.com
